Colt worked to perfect his cap and ball revolver. The sleek 1860 Army was considered to be the ultimate combat handgun of the percussion era. The single action revolver was designed around a lightweight frame, but chambered for the more powerful .44-caliber ball. The first single action army models featured fluted cylinders, and later models incorporated belted cylinders for added strength and creeping loading levers for easier loading. Civil War officers readily put up with the more stout recoil of the .44-caliber Model 1860 compared to .36-caliber revolvers of the time because of its battlefield efficiency at ranges up to 75 yards. Barrel length: 8". Overall length: 14". Weight: 2 lbs. 11 oz Made by Pietta These Firing Reproduction Weapons actually fire a Lead Ball using Black Powder and a Percussion cap exactly like the Original Weapons they Replicate. You must be 18 or older to order one. No license is required. Manufactured By Pietta
